Romantic Ideas to Spice Things Ups

Remember how you felt when you first fell in love with your spouse or sweetheart? While it’s somewhat cliché, sometimes we need to get back “that feeling”, when the relationship seems to be on cruise control. Here are some helpful ideas to rekindle the “magic” when your romantic relationship seems as predictable as a rabbit in a top hat:

1. Dinner.

Who said that the best meals are always at five-star restaurants? While dining out can definitely be the highlight of a romantic evening, you can create the same aura at home. Remember that ambiance is the key. With the right table settings (i.e. flowers or incense), the right lighting, and the right music, you and your partner can relive the feelings you had during your first date. We tend to remember experiences more than facts and figures, so make the dining experience one that excites the senses!

2. Walk or Drive.

In today’s computerized world, we seem to have lost some of life’s simple pleasures. Whatever happened to a walk or drive in the park? Find a route with scenic sights of nature or a city skyline. This is an excellent time to live in the moment and simply enjoy the view. Without saying a word, you can create a fantastic romantic moment that you’ll remember for a long time.

3. Movie.

With today’s technology you can recreate the movie theater experience, from the privacy of your home. What makes movie viewing so romantic? It’s the combination of the dimmed lights, the comfortable seating, and the shared bucket of popcorn (or plate of reduced-fat cheese on whole grain crackers, if you’re at home). Try to compromise when choosing the movie itself. An excellent choice is a romantic comedy, which both of you can enjoy.

5. Alcohol.

Champagne usually commemorates a special event. Well, you can also celebrate the relationship of you and your spouse or sweetheart! This is a fantastic way to kick off a romantic evening. If you’re on a tight budget, substitute the champagne with some sparkling wine.

You can create other romantic activities that include alcohol. Have a glass of beer or wine at a bar or nightclub, following your dinner. A breathtaking view of city lights can add some extra pizazz to the evening. Also, a nightcap provides the perfect way to end your romantic evening.

5. Kinesthetic activity.

OK, a session at the gym probably wouldn’t be the most romantic activity. But there are several kinesthetic activities that can also be romantic, such as roller skating, bowling, and ballroom dancing. This is an especially wise choice if both of you are watching your weight.

6. Carriage ride.

If you live in the city, this throwback means of transportation can definitely be romantic. Enjoy a quality conversation as you hear the clop-clop-clop of the horse’s feet.

Whether it’s Valentine’s Day or any other day of the year, these ideas will help to put the “r” back in romance. And you don’t have to spend a fortune, to create a priceless romantic moment.
